Front Door Replace and Reface

My dad gave me the original pine door from the house I grew up in so not only did I score a recycle but it also has meaning!

Here is the before door:

I purchased this solid brass mail slot on ebay cost was $67.

Next I "antiqued" the brass with a solution the seller sent along for me to give it an old rustic feel.

After... The door was stained dark walnut with the added mail slot and peep hole.

Old world charm!!

Pine Staircase Reburbished and Refinished

When we bought this house first on my list was to rip up the carpet and see what was in store...4 layers of paint and hundreds (maybe thousands) of staples later laid beautiful pine treads all in great shape!  A lot of sweat, stripping and sanding later here is a newly refurbished pine staircase.  The treads were stained with a dark mahagony finish, same as the railing. Our wood worker (Jason from One Stop Wood Shop) removed the rail and post and finished that in his shop.  The risers were replaced with textured paintable wall paper - beautiful and durable and was only $40 for 2 rolls!  I've had people question the wall paper but with 4 animals (1 rambuncous puppy) and not one rip its defenitely durable!
